EDUC 525 Unit 12: Assessment and Evaluation

Unit 12: Assessment and Evaluation Introduction Issues of assessment and evaluation are critical for guiding instruction and for accountability. In this unit, we will look at the ways to assess learning outcomes. Covered in this unit will be content that addresses different types of assessments, considerations for developing assessment tools, methods for gathering assessment data, and some common challenges in assessment and evaluation. For instance, although evaluation is a critical component in closing performance gaps, it is sometimes avoided and often conducted only superficially. Included in this unit is the Kirkpatrick Four Level evaluation model to measure goal achievement. The four levels addressed are 1) reaction, 2) impact during program, 3) transfer and 4) bottom line. You will learn how to apply the model to your gap analysis case study. Learning Objectives For This Unit Describe four levels of evaluation that can be used to assess the impact of interventions to close the stakeholder performance gap.Describe appropriate ways to assess each of the levels.Design an evaluation for your case study to determine the impact of your intervention(s).Apply research-based recommendations to assess and evaluate learner outcomes. Learning Strategies for This Unit · View the recorded lecture. Write down questions about anything you do not understand. · Complete the readings in the order listed in the syllabus, writing down one or two sentences that synthesize the major ideas. · Fill out the Evaluation Plan from Gap Analysis Worksheet and bring to class for peer collaboration.
